At this time, I am requesting assistance in getting my $300 refund as I feel this company has stolen my money.

I have been attempting to get my refund since January and have made significant efforts on my end to no resolution. We are now 1 6 days later, no call or refund. Spoke with Edgar 12:59pm and was assured he would get this done for me in a few days. On March 13, 2023, I called back again since there had been no call back from the sales department. She gave me the sales manager's name (Christina K***) and said there was a message in the system on 2/3/23 to refund my deposit. On March 11, 2023, still no return call, I called back and spoke with Suzanne 4:31pm. I called back again and spoke with DeeDee 3:57 pm and she told me there were issues with the phones but put in another email request to the sales department to process my $300 refund and call me back. I called back and spoke with Johnny 3:55pm and again the call was dropped. As he attempted to transfer my call to the sales department, the call was dropped. On March 7, 2023, at 3:48 pm, I called the company again and spoke with Benjamin. I was informed that they would have someone in sales call me back to process.

On February 3, 2023, I spoke with a rep at Acorn and again requested a full refund of my $300 deposit as we would not be proceeding with our initial plan. I was told she would notify the sales department to refund my $300 and it would take up to 15 days to process. I informed them at that time we would not be proceeding with our initial plan. In mid-January 2023, I received a call from the company to schedule installation. I was told by the sales rep that I could lock in the price with a $300 deposit, which was fully refundable if circumstances changed. I requested a quote from this company in November 2022 as my mother was possibly moving in. But how will I be able to go to my bed tonight or use my bathroom if I can’t go up the stairs? As a senior citizen on a fixed income and with no outside help, I am somewhat trapped. There appears to be no avenue for recourse, as all representatives and supervisors claim that the fee must be paid before any service can be completed. For a company that claims to assist the elderly, this is blatant disregard and customer abuse. And to add insult to injury, the company will not send a technician until the previous $270 fee (which was supposed to have been waived) has been paid. Now, on March 30, the chair is not functioning again.

I was also coerced into purchasing an Extended service plan and I was told that the service plan would cover these issues in the future. At this time, I requested that the previous charge of $270 be waived, given that it was for the same battery issue that had not been correctly resolved. I called for service, a technician came and I was not charged for the service call. On January 9th 2023, just a few weeks later, the chair again did not function. The technician came and changed the battery again. Because I cannot access my bedroom and bathroom without the stairlift, I agreed. I requested a service call and was told it would cost $270. Several weeks later the battery failed again. At that time, the battery malfunctioned and was replaced at the annual service inspection. It was functioning well until December 2022. We have called them numerous times to get our inspection and they either schedule it and cancel at the last minute, (which they have done numerous times) or we leave messages and they just don't bother to call us back at all!! I'm SO frustrated!! We haven't had our stairlift inspected since 2020! After reading about them having faulty stairlifts that fell apart while people were riding them, killing the riders, I'm getting more and more nervous about mine!! They then said that they would be calling to schedule us and told us we owed 20.00 in tax (which was not on the invoice) We agreed to pay the 20.00 when they came and did the inspection. I reminded them that they still had our money from Sept of the previous year. In 2022 they tried to charge us our inspection fee again. They never came out and inspected our stairlift that year. We paid our service renewal and inspection fee in Sept 2021.
